Vasectomy (permanent male contraception)

Vasectomy

is a permanent method of male contraception. It is a surgical operation which consists of ligating the two vas deferens to prevent sperm from mixing with spermatic fluid.

Your doctor must give you the information and broadest explanations of the intervention, but also on alternative methods.

Finally your doctor must ask you to sign a written consent for the completion of this intervention.

Vasectomy should be considered as a definitive method of contraception. Although a repair attempt is possible, the rate of pregnancy in partners of men with undergone this repair is quite weak. There sterilization should therefore not be considered as a reversible method.
